By far the most common question we get is "how do I get raccoons out of my attic/crawl space/shed?" The answer to this question is very simple: don't let them get in there in the first place.

Each fall, carefully inspect your house for possible entry points: open vents in the attic, holes in the soffit, broken basement windows, open access to crawl spaces or under under porches, uncovered chimneys.

Cover all access points with minimum 1/4inch hardware cloth, framed, installed with screws or nails, not staples. Window screen, chicken wire, or similar materials are not strong enough.
